weekend adventures

scott and rebekah recommended a few parks for us to visit. one of scott's favorites was ben burton park. the first time we looked for it, we ran into a cuban restaurant. then i remembered why we call scott "compass." (i dont have room to talk)

rebekah was kind enough to give us directions again, and we found it early saturday morning. it was "the most beautiful park [i] had ever seen," with the oconee river on one side, a nice trail on the other, and tables here and there for picnics. as we continued down the trail, it was clear that is was one "less traveled by (Frost p 89)." the further we went, the skinnier the trail got.

after katie got poked by thorns a few times, i wondered how scott ever got his bike through such brush. on the other side of the river, we saw a wide open trail. that had to be it! there were also rocks across the wide river, a little step path if you will. from where we stood, there was a rock every few feet for us to hop on.

pasha had no problems going from the trail to the river. he waded around and chased sticks. katie and i saw a turtle as we hip-hopped from rock to rock. we encountered a problem half way there: we ran out of rocks. there were some that were just below the surface that i tried to step on, but i fell in to the raging waters, much to pasha's delight. the water didnt seem too deep, so we tried to wade, but before i knew it, i was up to my waste in water. i slipped again.

the last 20 feet, i had to carry katie piggy-back through the deepest part. we thought we were out of the woods, but then we realized there wasnt a trail on the other side either, just people's back yards. to get back to the car, we had to scale a barber wire fence since we were on the wrong side of the river. it was a good time, and the water wasnt too cold.

I don't know who anonymous is, but I would say yes, a crow is a crow when it comes from my bro (KA-KA, shud-up). Z, you and KT need to stick to the trail next time, take it from one who knows fros when the wind blows from crows. We are glad you enjoyed the park, adventures are always fun... to remember.
