Christmas in a bar

after years of broken promises, katie and i were finally true to our word. every time we came to lexington, we told her brother, tyler, that we would see one of his shows. tyler is an amazing drummer and he plays for a number of bands in lexington.

on Christmas day, the whole family came out to see him play at a local bar/venue called the dame. it was lots of fun (thanks to a smoking ban in lexington). the concert was supposed to have a holiday theme, which may have been lacking on the surface. but as i looked around, i realized there were lots of other performers' family members in the crowd. the dark and perhaps anti-festive setting reminded me of the way Christ came into the world: a manger and stable, yet surrounded by adoration and admiration.

the best part of that day was being there to support tyler, and his band's rendition of "let's get it on" came in a close second. thanks tyler for your talent and hanging around with nerdy married couples.
