this picutre of lord ellenborough was included in my reading assignment for today. his claim to fame is developing contributory negligence theory in 1809, but the picture made me think like my sister, charlotte, who is always wishing that she was born in another century. wouldnt it be great if lawyers and judges still dressed like this? it would add to the respect and decorum that should exist in a courtroom. here are some other notable groundbreakers in different professions.

as fate would have it, i was called on in class to discuss lord ellenborough's opinion. i learned my lesson; i will never make fun of old people again.
